Note :

The exhibition looks back at the history of the SNCB under the German occupation. Curated by historian Nico Wouters, author of Le rail belge sous l’occupation, it explores a troubled period between collaboration and resistance, and questions the limits of compromise in the face of the occupier.

The scenography seeks a fine balance: restrained enough to approach a sensitive subject with delicacy, yet strong enough to convey emotion. The same balance shapes its integration into the heart of Train World’s permanent exhibition: discreet so as not to overshadow the collection, yet assertive enough to hold its own alongside the monumental locomotives. A clear and elegant identity guides visitors throughout the story of the exhibition.
The route brings together a large number of objects in display cases, along with archive photographs and films. Shown in large format, the photographs retain their status as historical documents, never becoming mere decoration.
